Suavecita press offers a weekly beginner/intermediate silkscreen class at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts. During this drop-in class, students thoroughly learn the process of silkscreening  from start to finish. you will be learning various printing and registration techniques as well as how to properly prepare positives and screens, how to burn an image on to a screen and how to reclaim a screen. you will have the opportunity to customize a screen with your own image and create your own prints!


  • Your image printed on a transparency (if hand drawing, blank acetate)

  • Photo emulsion

  • Water-based ink (if printing with fabric, fabric water-based ink)

  • Masking tape

  • Packaging tape

  • What you're printing on (Paper, textiles)

*Students are encouraged to bring their own supplies, however we do provide what we can.*

Open studio is recommended for artists who have already taken at least one introductory class. During open studio, artists have the opportunity to work on their personal projects. They have access to the studio equipment, including an exposure unit, light tables and power washer. There is always a monitor Present during open studios to assist artists with any questions or guidance. This is a great time to meet other suavecitas and collaborate! 

Open studio hours: 

  • Saturday 10am-5 pm


  • Half day (3-4 hours): $25

  • Full day (6 hours): $40
